  • SEMINAR ON “TAXATION SINCE MUGHAL PERIOD”.Students of SYBI came up with an innovative idea of them conducting a seminar for the students of FYBI.

The students of the second year organized a seminar on “Taxation-since the Mughal period” on 8th September’10 for the students of first year banking & insurance.
Seven students of second year made presentations on the subject of taxation. The session was very informative as students of both the classes exchanged their knowledge with each other in the field of taxation. Students of both the classes were benefited from this session.
For the first time, such an initiative was taken by the course, which received an overwhelming response from the students. We hope to continue with such idea in the future.
 
INSURANCE MELA
TYBI students had organsied an exhibition on 9th September ’10 of various insurance products in the field of life insurance, general insurance and health insurance. Groups were formed which represented various companies in the above mentioned three categories. The group members were giving information related to the insurance company, its products and services offered to the visitor in the mela. This exhibition was a very good source of information for banking and insurance students as well as the students of other courses who visited it. It helped visitors to widen their knowledge in the field of insurance. The effort of such kind was made for the first time by the course. The idea of Insurance Mela was a great success.
 
THE WALL
Students of FYBI regularly display articles on various topics on the notice board. This helps in cultivating their reading habits as well as in getting new information. The articles which were displayed were on various issues like oil spill, tiger extinction, social awareness, customer awareness, environment awareness, various festivals, Mumbai meri jaan, colours of India, social networking, RBI, various types of coins, etc This concept was also appreciated by the students of all three class.
 
INFLATIONARY TRENDS
Students of SY B Com, under guidance of Prof Koel Roy Choudhury, made a presentation on Inflationary trends.
 
BECOMING TECHNO-SAVVY
A closed group of SIES Nerul B.Com Banking & Insurance is created on facebook to increase interaction among banking and insurance students and to post different articles related to banks and insurance sector. This helps in keeping contact with passed out students also. This idea has helped in increasing rapport among the students of banking and insurance
 
DETAILS OF REMEDIAL COACHING
  • An extra lecture on Business Statistics was conducted by Ms. Vaishali M. for the week students.
  • An extra lecture on Management Accounting was conducted by Ms. Smita Ramakrishna to resolve doubts.
  • Weak students (less than 30% in the Internal Test –I) were identified.
  • Re-tests and assignments were given.

  • TYCS – Two Test Series
  • Students securing less than first class in their previous examination were identified and extra assignments were given to them to help them in increasing their percentage in the current semester examinations.
  • The students of SYJC are given board   question to practice. Both above  average students and weak students are given assignments. Special attention is given to top 10% of the students by giving them additional books to practice. As regards weak students parents have been called and counseling sessions have been held.

  • Professional Skill development program for TY students during the last week of December 2010.
  • A Certificate course on the functioning of Stock markets for the students of SY BAF
  • Certificate in Banking Technology” a 72 hour programme on Finnacle core banking software was launched on 15th June ’10 alongwith IDBI Intech Ltd. 24 students have successfully completed this course.
Various management games were conducted for FY, SY and TY B Com students to develop leadership skills and team spirit.

  • Workshop on Entrepreneurial Opportunities to encourage self employment among students
  • Prepare a corporate brochure fro placement of students.

  • Debate, Elocution Competition and Business Quiz for B Com students.
  • Encourage faculty members to undertake research in their respective subjects.
  • To conduct a National Research Conference in IT & CS in the month of Feb 2011

CENTRALIZED EXAMINATION
  • Since BMS examinations for the First year and Second year students are conducted on a centralized basis between SIES (Sion) College & SIES (Nerul) College, Subject meetings were conducted between the faculty of both the colleges.
