The South Indian Education Society (SIES) College of Arts, Science & Commerce, located in a sprawling 3 acre campus at Nerul, rolled in its annual inter-collegiate cultural festival SIESONS on 21st January 2011. |
It offers new vistas for students across every arena ranging from Literary Arts to Performing Arts, and Fine Arts to Crossovers. Like every year, SIESONS recreated its magic on the 21st and 22nd of January, and it let Gen next come in and weave a spell over the audience. With a footfall of over 4000 students witnessing and participating in over 45 events, SIESONS proved to be the biggest undergraduate cultural festival in Navi Mumbai. |
This year, with a theme like Rang de Basanti, which is intricately woven into the Indian tradition, SIESONS symbolized the transformation of the youth into confident, open minded, mature, innovative and independent individuals with a 'never say die' attitude. Besides, SIESONS had taken up a strong initiative to recycle the e-waste, under the guidance of Eco Recycling Limited (Ecoreco) |
Day 1 of SIESONS witnessed a number of interesting events including Goal Maal (football event), Tattoo Making, Battle of Wits (debate competition), Big Tummy, Street Play, Ad Mad, sponsored by Hindustan Times, and many more. Mayuresh, a popular contestant of Dance India Dance (Season-1), and the judge for the event ‘Bollywood Dance’, awestruck the audience with his moves. However, music took centre stage with 9 bands fighting it out for the Band Event competition; where ‘Funk the System’ was declared as winners. |
Witnessing success on day 1, day 2 got bigger and better with events like Bluffmaster (based on the popular game show), Pentathelon (relay of 5 continuous activities), Junk Music, Spoof a Movie, Bollywood Masala, and many more. However, Street Dance conquered all the events with breath-taking performances by around 10 crews; whereby the winning crew won prizes worth Rs. 20,000/-, RJ Neil, of RED FM fame, stole the show with his eloquence while judging the event ‘RJ Hunt.’ He obliged the organizing team by also judging the event, ‘SIESONS got Talent’, a talent-hunt show. The peak point of day 2 was achieved with the events Folk Dance and the Fashion Show, showcasing models walking the ramp with themes like Mafia, Miami and many more.
